The 1996 Blanc de Blancs from Billecart-Salmon is a stunning wine that is just reaching its apogee of peak drinkability, but will cruise along at a great level for at least another couple of decades. The superb bouquet delivers a mélange of apple, sweet brioche, lemon chiffon, almond skin, a beautifully complex base of soil and a gentle touch of honeycomb in the upper register. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied, complex and beautifully balanced, with a lovely core, fine focus and grip, pinpoint bubbles and great length and grip on the pure and very elegant finish. Great juice. - JG
